Beauty Advice Should Be Easier to Trust
GlowTheory is a beauty science education platform created to make the science behind hair, scalp, skin, and beauty ingredients easier to understand.
Beauty information is everywhere, but it is often oversimplified, exaggerated, or stripped of the context people need to make informed decisions. GlowTheory exists to bridge the gap between complicated science, real-world beauty experience, and practical advice you can actually use.
Where Science Meets Real Beauty Experience
GlowTheory combines evidence-based research with insight shaped by years of hands-on salon experience.
The goal is not to overwhelm you with technical language or tell you there is one perfect product for everyone. It is to explain what is happening, why it happens, and what the available evidence suggests—so you can make smarter decisions for your hair, scalp, skin, and routine.
Here, you will find clear explanations of topics such as:
- How hair color and lightener work
- Why hair becomes damaged, dry, or brassy
- What beauty ingredients can and cannot do
- How heat, water, styling, and chemical services affect hair
- Common beauty myths and misleading claims
- Scalp and skin science explained in approachable language

About the Founder
GlowTheory was created by Jenna Abney, a professional hairstylist and colorist with 17 years of hands-on experience in hair and beauty.
Years behind the chair revealed a recurring problem: clients were receiving an enormous amount of beauty advice, but very little explanation. They were told what to buy, what to avoid, or what their hair “needed” without being shown the science behind those recommendations.
GlowTheory was created to offer something different—education that respects both scientific evidence and the realities of working with real people, real hair, and real beauty concerns.
The GlowTheory Approach
Clarity Over Complication
Scientific concepts should be explained accurately without making readers feel like they need a chemistry degree to understand them.
Evidence Over Hype
GlowTheory avoids exaggerated promises, fear-based messaging, and claims that go beyond the available evidence.
Context Matters
Hair, skin, scalp health, products, and treatments are rarely one-size-fits-all. Advice should account for individual differences, product formulation, application, environment, and routine.
Practical Education
The goal is not only to explain the science, but to help readers understand how that science applies to everyday choices.
Healthy Skepticism
Popular claims are not automatically true simply because they are repeated online. GlowTheory looks at the reasoning and evidence behind beauty advice—not just the trend.
Our Mission
GlowTheory’s mission is to become a trusted, approachable resource for beauty science education—helping readers separate useful information from marketing, misinformation, and oversimplified advice.
Because beauty advice should not require blind trust.
It should make sense.
Educational disclaimer: GlowTheory provides general educational information and does not diagnose or treat medical conditions.
